Texas Panhandle

I'm traveling for work, and this is my second week in the high plains of the Texas panhandle.  This part of the world has its own unique beauty.  I love the big sky.  I enjoy the flatness that turns into gullies and plateaus and then returns to flatness again.  The climate is interesting too.  It's frosty in the morning and hot in the afternoon.  The people are too nice.  The towns can be remote, which makes it feel like another country.  There isn't any 3G/4G networks; I'm on the edge network.  I'm on the edge of Texas.  The economy is almost entirely tied to the oil and gas industry, which makes me wonder what this place would be like without oil and gas?  Would it be empty?

I enjoy the quietness and darkness at night.  I like this part of Texas.
